Playing for Success on the Road
Project Proposal - Daventry Transition
Aims
- To run three 2-hour sessions in summer term: June, July and three 2-hour follow up sessions in the autumn term: September, October. The content is to be ‘Playing for Success’ transition days for 15 year 6 vulnerable pupils from the Danetre Cluster in Daventry based at Danetre School.
- To introduce Daventry schools to Northants Study Centres’ Playing for Success ethos, activities and ideas to engage and motivate primary and secondary students.
- To build on the work of Daventry District Council’s transition projects. Half of each session to be based around transition themes and social skills: change, expectations, circle time, familiarising with school. These are to be led by Danetre’s transition/pastoral staff in year 7 with support from Northants Study Centres PfS Curriculum Practitioner Anna Letts.
- To improve key skills through using sport based literacy, numeracy and ICT activities.
- To improve confidence and self-esteem as well as social skills: leadership, teamwork, co-operation.
Staffing
- Anna Letts to plan, prepare and deliver all PfS based sessions assisted by primary link staff and Danetre/William Parker’s transition/pastoral staff in year 7.
- Transition/pastoral staff in year 7 to lead sessions with transition themes assisted by Anna Letts and primary link staff.
- Partnership working/input with Brenda Taylor, Daventry District Council’s transition team.
